7th Grade

The 7th Grade Students have almost completed their books on geometric constructions, and they did a very good job. Students should continue to practice constructions using the tab at the right, so that they do not forget how to do them in the next few months. To do this at home, students will need to purchase their own compasses, which are available at Target, Walmart, CVS, and office supply stores. Tomorrow's test will be mainly on geometric constructions, and will be modeled on the CRCT type of questions in this area.

6th Grade

This week, we have worked on unit conversions within one system (customary or metric). Tonight's homework will be review work of measuring to the nearest fraction of an inch (CRCT Coach book, Lesson 8, page 81). Tomorrow's test will be mostly conversion of units of measurement with some review of finding area (rectangles and triangles) and measuring to the nearest fraction of an inch.

7th Grade Homework

For our geometric constructions unit, the homework tonight is to think of and write down at least 5 real-life situations for which making one of the geometric constructions would be helpful.

6th Grade Homework - Unit Conversions

Tonight's homework is to use Dimensional Analysis to convert units within the customary measurement system. Students were given a worksheet with 20 problems. Proportions of common units of measurements can be found in the CRCT Coach book, page 70. However, students should use the Dimensional Analysis method as opposed to the steps given on page 71. The link to dimensional analysis (click here) has some additional information that will help students to do this. In this manner, students will avoid the confusion of deciding when to multiply and when to divide.
