Rules of Divisibility

This will help students to factor numbers. If Anyone would like to make a new, better slideshow, so we don't have to borrow Mrs. Young's (I don't even know who she is) - I would like to post one of my own students' work.

6TH GRADE

Today, we finished presenting last week's projects, and just started our discussion on number theory. We briefly talked about prime and composite numbers, as well as factors. There is no homework for 6th grade, other than to practice math facts if necessary, or to check out one of the websites on the side bar. We had 9 girls absent today, so we will all be on the same page tomorrow. Get well, everyone!

Grade 7 Algebra

Unit 2, Patterns and Relationships/Algebra will begin on September 9.
Homework for Wednesday, September 9 - BOYS AND GIRLS CLASS - research one of the following tops and return to class with BRIEF report (1-3 sentences) on one of the following topics al-jabr, Brahmagupta; or China's or Egypt's contribution to algebra. Significant dates, regions, and people should be included where appropriate. We will be using what students bring to class to teach ourselves through an in-class activity. GIRLS CLASS ONLY (we didn't get this far in the boys' class) - page 15 and 16, problems 1-3. The coordinate graph can be done by hand, or on the computer.

a good message

President Obama's Speech to Students

Graph received

Good evening - I received a nice graph of a survey regarding ice cream flavors. - good job! If you make a graph on 'Make a Graph' - please put your name in the title so that I can give you credit.

Teacher out sick - no homework tonight

HOWEVER, I have been noticing that many students are having trouble with division because they do not have mastery of their multiplication facts. Please practice these facts with your child if he or she does not know them automatically.

6th and 7th Graphing

For our Unit One Project on data, many students had difficulties graphing their data using Excel. If you still need to make a graph, use the link below and make a graph. You can then post download it and print it at home, or it to me at denise.svenson@imagineschools.com, and I will post it to this blog.
