Tomorrow, students will be re-tested on finding area and perimeter of rectangles and triangles. Yesterday and today we did an activity with manipulatives to help students understand how to find the area of a triangle. You can imagine the triangle as half of a rectangle, for which the area is LxW. The area of a triangle, then, is 1/2(LxW). You can go to the following link for an interactive demonstration.

7th Grade - Geometry
After sharing and presenting our project work tomorrow, Feb. 2, we will continue our geometry unit with studies of similar figures, and methods of bisecting an angle. These website links illustrate the concepts that we will study in class.
how to bisect an angle with a compass and straightedge
three methods for determining similarity of triangles

Coordinate Grid Website
For extra practice using a coordinate grid, go to the Coordinate Plane Game.
This is applicable to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.
